Start

Stand tall with abdominals engaged and back straight.

Keep your chest out and shoulders back.

Hold a pair of dumbbells in a hang-carry position at your sides (see figure a).

Move

Step the right foot forward to bring your right thigh parallel to the floor in a lunge position (see figure b); at the same time, perform a biceps curl with the dumbbells, bending at the elbow until the heads of the dumbbells are near shoulder height (see figure c).

From the lunge, press the dumbbells overhead to complete a shoulder press (see figure d) as you return to start position, pushing off the heel of the front leg.

Return the weights to your side in a controlled manner and repeat with the left leg.
